US Consulate and Embassy resume issuing visas

The resumption comes after the new policy announced by President Joe Biden on Monday, 25

This Wednesday, the 27th, the US Consulate in Brazil and the US Embassy officially resumed the issuance, as of November 8, of all types of visas for that country.

In a press conference held in Brasília, the Embassy spokesman, Tobias Bradford, stated that a contingency plan will be initiated to deal with the demands.

According to the spokesperson and head of the consular section, Antonio Agnone, a significant number of interview slots, including dates for this year, have already been made available. Interviews already scheduled may be rescheduled for a closer date according to availability.

The Embassy and Consulates recommend that visa applicants regularly check the booking website for new schedules.  The resumption occurs after the new policy announced by President Joe Biden on Monday, 25.

It defines that completely immunized travelers must present, before boarding, proof of vaccination – including name, date of birth, type of vaccine and the dates of application of all doses – in addition to a negative PCR or antigen test performed up to three days before departure.

All vaccines approved in full and for emergency use by the FDA and the World Health Organization (WHO), including the vaccine mix, will be accepted. The final dose must be administered at least two weeks before departure to the US.

Children and adolescents up to 17 years old do not need to present proof of vaccination, but they must have a negative test carried out in the same period as the accompanying adults.
